All I really wanted was to
thaw a hamburger bun,
I placed it on top of the toaster,
and set it to Number one.
Not long away for a P-break,
I suddenly smelled smoke;
By the time I got my drawers up,
I began to choke.
What the hell?I grabbed the bun,
but it was barely warm.
Still the black smoke bellowed
and set off the fire alarm.
I rushed to open windows,
I turned on every fan,
I yanked the toaster from the wall,
I burned my friggin' hand.
The mystery was solved soon enough
When I peeked inside that thang,
Yesterday's now charcoaled toast
Forgotten when the telephone rang...
